Bangladesh star fargana surges in women's rankings 0

The current MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings saw a lot of movement after the completion of the series between South Africa and Bangladesh.

Fargana Hoque’s century, her second, in the second ODI may have been in vain, but it secured her a two-spot rating rise, propelling her to No.13 among hitters. It was the greatest performance by a female batter from Bangladesh.

South Africa’s 2-1 comeback triumph has helped their players advance in the weekly updates.

Laura Wolvaardt stole the show in both games, scoring a half-century in the second ODI and a fifty in the final. Despite not rising in the rankings, she maintained her fourth-place position on the batters list, now just two rating points behind Chamari Athapaththu (No. 3) and 14 behind Beth Mooney (No. 2). Natalie Sciver-Brunt of England continues to lead the way.

Wolvaardt’s opening partner Tazmin Brits also hit a century in the third ODI, as the two put up a 243-run partnership. Brits jumped 32 places to No. 41. Anneke Bosch’s first ODI fifty and Player of the Match effort in the second match saw her leap 71 places to No.70.

Marizanne Kapp, South Africa’s star all-rounder, took two wickets in each of the two matches. She moved up one position to No. 8 in the bowlers’ rankings and to the top of the all-rounder standings, which she previously shared with Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner until last week.

Nadine de Klerk (up four places to match No.19) and Nonkululeko Mlaba (up six places to No.24) were also notable movers in South Africa’s bowlers’ list.
