Australia women seek pre-world cup intel from bangladesh tour0

The Australian women’s squad sees their first bilateral series in Bangladesh in March as an essential warm-up for the ICC Women’s Twenty20 World Cup, which will be held in the same nation later this year.

The Australians will play an ODI and T20 series against the Nigar Sultana Joty-led squad, which national selector Shawn Fledger sees as an important chance to learn about the playing conditions in Bangladesh ahead of the T20 World Cup.

“We’ve got a couple of venues in Bangladesh that the World Cup will be played at so that will be part of the investigating during the tour, about how wickets are going to play,” Flegler said in an interview with ESPNCricinfo.

The Bangladesh visit will provide the reigning champions with firsthand knowledge of what it’s like to play T20 cricket in this area of the globe.

The Australian women had only visited Bangladesh once previously, in 2014, for the T20 World Cup, when they beat England in the final to win the championship.

Only four players of the champion Australia team remain in the current lineup: Alyssa Healy, Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, and Jess Jonassen.

Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Joty described the upcoming series against the world champions as an excellent occasion for the Tigresses to put their skills to the test.
