Pakistan knocked out Australia for 487 on the second day of the first Test in Perth on Friday, with Aamer Jamal taking six wickets on debut.
After starter David Warner struck a courageous 164 on the first day, the hosts resumed on 346-5, with Mitchell Marsh on 16 and Alex Carey on 15.
Marsh appeared set for his fourth Test century, but he was bowled for 90 on the first ball after lunch by paceman Khurram Shahzad.
Shahzad finished with 2-83, but fellow rookie Jamal stole the show with 6-111.
Pakistan has never won a Test series in Australia and has not won a Test there since 1995.
