On Tuesday, the Norway midfielder Martin Odegaard scored twice to lead Arsenal to a 3-1 victory over the struggling Chelsea team. This victory moved Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League standings. After suffering a setback at the hands of Manchester City by the score of 4-1 the week before, Mikel Arteta’s team was unable to regain control of the championship race.

But with their first victory in five matches, the Gunners gave notice that they intend to take City all the way to the finish line. At the Emirates Stadium, the home team surged into a three-goal lead before halftime thanks to goals from Odegaard (two), Gabriel Jesus (one), and Gabriel Jesus (two).

The goal scored by Noni Madueke in the second half was not enough to make up for Chelsea’s terrible effort. Arsenal are now two points ahead of City, who are in second position. Even though Pep Guardiola’s team is still the favorite to win the championship, the team from north London has at least put a little bit of pressure on the team that is now in first place.

If Manchester City are successful against West Ham United at home on Wednesday, the first of their two games in hand on Arsenal, they will go back into top position.

“I think we performed pretty well for the opening sixty minutes of the game. That was everything I want to see from our team, and Arteta confirmed that I saw it all.

“Speed, quality, and movement are two beautiful goals, and we connected with our audience to create an incredible atmosphere.” We wanted to compete hard enough to win the right to be in first place in the league. We are overjoyed to be present there.

As a result of City’s victory at Fulham on Sunday, Arsenal fell to second position in the league after spending the previous 10 weeks atop the standings. Arsenal has been written off as potential chokers in the championship race as a result of their recent string of results, which includes two squandered two-goal leads and a disastrous loss away at City.

However, Arteta insisted this week that the title was still up for grabs, and his players responded to the rallying cry that the Spaniard gave. Arsenal needed to get back on track before their difficult trip to Newcastle on Sunday, so they chose to play troubled Chelsea as their opponent. Since Graham Potter was fired from his position as manager of the Blues, interim manager Frank Lampard has taken over and the team has now lost all six of their games since he took over.

Chelsea, who are now in the bottom half of the table and are winless in their last nine games in all competitions, are in danger of missing out on finishing in the top half of the standings for the first time since 1996.

“In every facet of the game, we made ourselves too easy to play against in the first half. Lampard said that it was not good enough. “It’s tough because you want to win games, but it’s our job, and we’ll work on it.”

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, once of Arsenal and currently of Chelsea, made his first start for the Blues since their loss to Arsenal by a score of 1-0 back in November.

But Aubameyang, whose four-year stint with Arsenal ended in acrimony in 2022, never had a chance of exacting revenge on his old team before he was hauled off at half-time. During his time with Arsenal, Aubameyang was involved in a number of tumultuous incidents. Odegaard gave Arsenal the lead that they earned in the 18th minute after they had been in perfect control of the game from the beginning.

Granit Xhaka’s low cross was intercepted by Chelsea’s sloppy defenders, but Odegaard was waiting just inside the penalty area to guide a magnificent curling finish past Kepa Arrizabalaga. This allowed Odegaard to take advantage of the ample space that was afforded to him.

Ben Chilwell presented Chelsea with a chance to tie the game, but Aaron Ramsdale produced a spectacular stop to keep them in the lead. A second goal scored by the Gunners in the 31st minute put Chelsea in a far worse position than before the near-miss, which was a false dawn for the terrible Chelsea team.

Once more, Chelsea gave Xhaka enough time to deliver a cross into the penalty box, and Odegaard took advantage of Raheem Sterling’s lackluster marking to beat Kepa with a shot from 12 yards out. Arsenal smelled blood against cowardly and uninterested opponents, and the third goal duly appeared three minutes later to confirm their suspicions.

Jesus chested down a cross from Ben White, and after Xhaka’s effort was stopped, it was Jesus who stabbed the ball home from close range. Ben White provided the assist. Arsenal were dominant, and Thiago Silva cleared a Gabriel header off the line. Kepa made saves on shots from Xhaka and Bukayo Saka, but Arsenal ultimately prevailed.

In the 65th minute, Chelsea finally roused themselves from their slumber and cut into the gap that had been created. Madueke scored his first league goal for the club since joining in January after making the move from PSV Eindhoven thanks to a defence-splitting assist from Mateo Kovacic. Madueke expertly placed the ball beyond Ramsdale.
