James Anderson, a fast bowler for England, claims he has fully healed from a groin injury and will be ready to play when the first test of the Ashes is played against Australia in one month.
Last week, when playing for Lancashire, Anderson sustained the injury. Anderson is England’s top bowler in tests, having taken 685 wickets. Since an uncapped player named Josh Tongue was just recruited to the group, it is quite improbable that he will participate in the one-off test that will take place before the Ashes.
When asked if he would be fit for the opening match against Australia at Edgbaston on June 16, Anderson, who is 40 years old, responded “Yes, definitely” in an interview with the Telegraph newspaper on Wednesday.
“I have no problems running and bowling again, and I’m just crossing my fingers that I’ll be able to continue going as I have been and will be ready for the Ashes.”
“The plan is to try to step it up here at Lancashire over the next couple of days, and then meet up with England on Sunday and see where I get to from there,” he said. “The idea is to try to step it up here at Lancashire.” I have been selected for the group that will play Ireland, but we won’t know our final lineup until much closer to the match.
For England, who are already playing without fast bowler Jofra Archer due to an injury, having Anderson available is very essential.
The most recent Ashes series was played in Australia, and England was defeated there 4-0.
