On Saturday, Carlo Ancelotti put an end to any lingering uncertainty over his immediate future by announcing that he will complete the final year of his contract with Real Madrid despite interest from Brazil.
Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the Brazilian FA (CBF), stated in March that Carlo Ancelotti would be an obvious candidate to replace the vacant national coaching job if he was available at the end of the European season. Rodrigues made this statement to Reuters.
Real Madrid was eliminated from the Champions League on Wednesday after suffering a devastating 4-0 loss to Manchester City in their semi-final matchup. As a result of this loss, suspicion mounted that his career was in jeopardy. Real also failed to win the LaLiga title, while fierce rivals Barcelona were able to secure it with four games to spare.
Ancelotti was visibly irritated when he was questioned about the Brazil interest for the umpteenth time at a news conference. “Everyone knows really well what my situation is: I have contract until the end of the 2024 season and I want to stay,” Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti gave a resounding “Yes!” in response to a reporter’s question about whether or not the club had given him any assurances that he would be retained.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, has not yet issued a comment on Ancelotti’s future plans.
When asked about Ancelotti after Real’s 2-1 victory in the Copa del Rey final, President Florentino Perez had an evasive response when questioned about the matter.
When Real Madrid manager Florentino Perez fired Italian Carlo Ancelotti in 2015, one year after Ancelotti led Real to their long-awaited 10th European Cup win, Ancelotti had already experienced Perez’s quick temper.
Ancelotti responded by saying, “It could have been a better season, but it was a good one,” when he was asked how he would evaluate the 2022-23 campaign.
“Of course, we are not satisfied with how things turned out in LaLiga, but we fought to the very end in the other competitions… and won three of them.”
Ancelotti was alluding to Real Madrid’s success in winning the Spanish Cup, the FIFA club World Cup, and the European Super Cup.
Reuters made touch with the Brazilian FA early on Saturday morning, but they did not provide a response. However, the head of the Brazilian FA stated recently that they were ready to wait for Ancelotti until June so that they could evaluate other candidates, such as Jose Mourinho of AS Roma and Jorge Jesus of Fenerbahce.
