NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo received plaudits from Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti on Monday for maintaining that there was “no failure in sports” last week.
Greek athlete Antetokounmpo said there was no such thing as failure in sport after the Miami Heat eliminated the top-seeded Milwaukee Bucks from the NBA playoffs. Teams may have good days and terrible days, he remarked.
Ancelotti told reporters, “What this guy said was great; I have nothing to say, and I think 100% like him.
“You can’t talk about failure in life or in sports,” the saying goes. Failure only occurs when you don’t do your hardest to complete an endeavor.
“It will never be a failure when you have a calm conscience and are trying to do the best that you can.” Real Madrid, the defending La Liga champion, is second in the standings with six games left, 11 points behind rival Barcelona.
Madrid, on the other hand, is in the final four of the Champions League and will play Osasuna in the Copa del Rey on Saturday.
“In sport, you lose more often than you win,” Ancelotti stated.
Tuesday in La Liga, Madrid travels to Real Sociedad after Barcelona hosts Osasuna in an effort to extend its lead to 14 points. Ancelotti was not pleased with the match’s start time at San Sebastian, which was 2200 local time (2000 GMT).
The Italian stated, “We have a difficult game against a great team tomorrow and we have absences through injury and suspension.”
“It’s a difficult match with an absurd kickoff time, but that’s what we have to do.”
Vinicius Junior, a Madrid winger, has been banned, while Los Blancos will be missing Luka Modric, David Alaba, and Ferland Mendy due to injury.
