Amir set to join derbyshire as local player0

According to an article published in an English newspaper, Mohammad Amir, a former fast bowler for Pakistan, is planning to sign with Derbyshire as a local player for the next season.

Before accepting a contract with Derbyshire, the 31-year-old former international cricket player, who retired from the sport in 2020, applied for British citizenship due to the fact that his wife is a citizen of that country.

Earlier in his career, Amir had been a county cricket player for both Essex and Gloucestershire. In addition, he participated in the inaugural season of the Hundred for the London Spirit team that is headquartered in Lord’s. If he were to get British citizenship, it would enable him to compete in the Hundred in the same capacity as a local player.

In 2010, while Amir was just 18 years old, he gained notoriety for being one of two bowlers (the other being the more experienced Mohammad Asif) to intentionally pitch no-balls during a test tour of England. The other bowler was Mohammad Asif.

After being found guilty of intentionally bowling no-balls during a Test tour of England, Amir was given a five-year ban from the sport by the International Cricket Council in 2010 and is now spending the first three months of a six-month jail term at young offenders institutions in Feltham and Dorset. The International Criminal Court also imposed bans and sentences of imprisonment on Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt, respectively.

Amir made his comeback to the international cricket scene in 2016, although he stepped away from the sport during the epidemic. Since that time, he has performed his musical talents throughout Pakistan, England, Bangladesh, and the Caribbean. Amir was regarded as a bowler of world-class caliber in all three formats, accumulating 259 wickets for Pakistan while playing for the national team, including 119 in Test matches.
