Sir Curtly Ambrose of the West Indies has indicated interest in taking over as the Bangladesh national team’s fast-bowling coach, a job that has been unfilled since South African star Allan Donald left after the ICC World Cup.

Fast bowling is wonderful. Ambrose, who is presently in Dhaka working as a pundit in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), responded positively when asked whether he would want to work with the Bangladesh squad.

“I like teaching and want to assist fast bowlers progress and share my knowledge. I know Courtney [Walsh] has already worked with Bangladesh cricket, and if things work out, I may be interested in working with the Tigers. It’s about sharing your expertise and educating the pacers,” said the tall guy from Antigua.

Courtney Walsh, Ambrose’s long-time bowling partner, came as Bangladesh’s bowling coach in August 2016 after four years with the Tigers.

Walsh has faced high expectations since signing an agreement with the BCB to replace Heath Streak, with the goal of propelling Bangladesh’s fast bowling department to new heights.

However, there did not seem to be any notable gains during Walsh’s stint, and it should be noted that the Tigers’ fast bowling was one of the weaker departments in Bangladesh’s 2019 World Cup campaign.

It came as no surprise when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) decided not to extend Walsh’s contract in July 2019.
