After giving up an early goal, Bangladesh was able to overcome the deficit and take a commanding 3-1 lead over Bhutan at the break owing to the efforts of Sheikh Morsalin and Rakib Hossain.

After being given an early fright by the Bhutanese, Bangladesh went a step closer to a semifinal berth in the SAFF Championship thanks to the two strikers who scored two goals and collaborated to put up an own goal. Bhutan had given Bangladesh an early concern.

The Himalayan nation took the lead in the 12th minute thanks to a screamer of a strike from outside the box by Tsenda Dorji. This came only a few moments after Phuntsho Jigme had hit the crossbar.

However, Morsalin, who scored the third goal in Bangladesh’s 3-1 victory against Maldives the other day, ignited Bangladesh’s comeback with a similarly stunning long-range shot in the 22nd minute. This goal was the catalyst for Bangladesh’s comeback.

Rakib’s shot then deflected off Phuntsho and into the back of the net for Bhutan nine minutes later. Rakib then scored a fantastic goal for Bangladesh after being set up by Morsalin, which gave Bangladesh a commanding lead in the match.

Even a loss by one goal would be enough for Bangladesh to go to the semifinals for the first time in 14 years if they draw or even if they lose by one goal.
