Joty puts batters in the dock0

Following Bangladesh’s humiliating loss to India by seven wickets in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) match of the three-match series, which took place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday, Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty voiced her dissatisfaction with her team’s poor batting performance.

As a consequence of Bangladesh’s lack of batting firepower, the Tigresses were only able to score 114 runs after losing five wickets after playing their full quota of 20 overs. This meant that Bangladesh was unable to post a score that could compete with their tough opponents.

Despite the fact that the home team had a large number of rookies in their lineup, Joty was not willing to blame the batting failures on a lack of experience as an excuse.

“In this instance, I do not believe there was any malicious intent. According to Joty, “when you play wearing a national jersey, it shows that you are experienced.”

Additionally, the captain of Bangladesh’s women’s team stressed the importance of individual effort. “When a player gets a start, she should be able to carry her innings; why should she be taken out after scoring 25 runs?” She went on to say that “we have to be thoughtful about our shot selection and play according to the demands of the situation.”

After an early hiccup in the game, Smriti Mandhana (38 runs) and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur (54 not out) cobbled together a 70-run partnership for the third wicket as the visitors sailed over Bangladesh’s meager score with 22 deliveries to spare.

On July 11, the second Twenty20 International will be played at the same location as the first.
