Timothy Weah, a player for the United States national team, scored the first goal of his career for Juventus on Wednesday, when the Italian giants upset Real Madrid 3-1 in a pre-season friendly match played in Florida.

Weah, who only last month moved to Juventus from Lille, tapped away a close-range goal after receiving a feed from U.S. teammate Weston McKennie to give the Serie A side a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes in front of a sell-out crowd of 63,503 people in Orlando. The match was a part of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

McKennie, who spent the second part of the previous season on loan at Premier League club Leeds, where he failed to make an impression, also had a role in his team’s initial goal, which occurred inside the first minute and a half of the match. This goal was scored within the first sixty seconds.

Following some deft approach play, McKennie curled a shot against the base of the post, and Moise Kean was waiting in the wings to put away the rebound.

Real Madrid, who once again began new signing Jude Bellingham, were sluggish to get into the game but ultimately grabbed a goal back via Brazil international Vinicius Jr. seven minutes before the break. Real Madrid started new signing Jude Bellingham.

Vinicius was able to calmly lift his shot over Wojciech Szczesny to score after being put on his way toward the Juventus goal by a magnificent pass from Toni Kroos.

During a fragmented second half, Real went in search of an equalizer, but it was Dusan Vlahovic who put the game out of Real’s reach for Juventus deep into stoppage time.

Real Madrid played their last friendly match of the preseason on Wednesday, one week before they begin their La Liga campaign against Athletic Bilbao on August 12.

In the meanwhile, Juventus will now go back to Italy to begin preparing for their first game of the season on August 20 against Udinese.
