Due to a knee injury, Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain will not play in the 2018 Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka.Tanzim Hasan Sakib, an uncapped pacer, has been selected by BCB’s national selection committee to replace Ebadot.
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that the 29-year-old Ebadot received during the ODI series against Afghanistan last month has prevented him from recovering sufficiently to be considered for the Asia Cup.
Dr. Debashis Chowdhury, the chief sports physician for BCB, stated: “Ebadot underwent six weeks of rehabilitation after the accident. Since then, we have had a number of MRIs, and the results indicate that his ACL is still a problem and has to be managed further. As a result, he is excluded from the Asia Cup.
“Given the significance of the ICC World Cup in October, the Bangladesh team’s next major competition, the BCB is committed to exploring every safe medical option for getting Ebadot back to full fitness and playing as soon as possible, including consultation and treatment abroad.”
In contrast, Tanzim Hasan Sakib has 57 wickets from 37 List A games. Sakib amassed nine wickets from three matches in the just ended ACC Emerging Men’s Asia Cup.
